You may have recently received an email from Stripe titled “Confirmation of Direct Debit Request with WalletPay.”
We understand that this email may have caused some confusion, particularly if you no longer have an active account with us.
The email was generated as part of WalletPay’s migration of payment records from our previous payment provider, Ezidebit, to Stripe. Receiving this email does not mean that a payment has been scheduled or that an inactive account has been reactivated.
The information below explains why you received the email and whether you need to do anything.
Why did I receive an email from Stripe?
WalletPay is changing its payment processing provider from Ezidebit to Stripe.
As part of this migration, existing payment records held with our previous provider have been transferred to Stripe.
As part of Stripe's requirements for establishing the migrated Direct Debit Request information within its payment system, Stripe was required to issue its Direct Debit Request confirmation and Service Agreement notification to the relevant account holders.
This notification was generated as part of the migration process and does not mean that WalletPay has scheduled a payment from your bank account.
Do I need to do anything?
No.
You do not need to respond to the Stripe email or take any action as a result of receiving it.
If you are a current WalletPay customer with an active payment arrangement, we will communicate with you separately regarding when your payments will transition to Stripe.
I don't have an active account. Why did I receive the email?
The migration included historical payment records associated with current and previous WalletPay accounts.
This was necessary to ensure that relevant payment and account records continue to be appropriately maintained following the change of payment provider.
As part of processing the migrated Direct Debit Request information, Stripe was required to issue its Direct Debit Request confirmation and Service Agreement notification.
We recognise that receiving this notification when you no longer have an active account may have been confusing, and we apologise for any concern this may have caused.
Receiving the email does not reactivate your account, create a new payment obligation or mean that WalletPay intends to debit your bank account.
Has a direct debit been scheduled against my account?
No.
The Stripe email itself does not mean that a debit has been scheduled.
For customers who have an active account and active payment obligations with WalletPay, we will communicate separately about the transition of their payments to Stripe.
If you do not have an active account or payment obligation with WalletPay, receiving this migration notification does not create one.
Does this mean WalletPay has opened a new Direct Debit Request for me?
The email relates to payment information migrated to Stripe as WalletPay's new payment provider.
It does not mean that WalletPay has opened a new customer account, entered you into a new credit agreement, reinstated a closed account or created a new debt.
The email is a notification associated with the migration of the existing payment information to Stripe.
Why does the email say that I “agree” to a Direct Debit Request?
The wording in the email forms part of Stripe's standard BECS Direct Debit Request and Service Agreement documentation.
Stripe is WalletPay's new payment processing provider and the email was generated as part of the migration of Direct Debit Request information to Stripe.
Receiving this notification does not, by itself, mean that WalletPay has scheduled a payment against your bank account.
I've never had an account called “WalletPay”. Why did I receive the email?
WalletPay now supports accounts associated with a number of current and former brands and businesses.
You may previously have held an account associated with one of the following brands:
- Snaffle
- InRent
- Radio Rentals SA
- Geddit
- RT Edwards
- Make It Mine
- Essential Appliance Rentals
- MyMates Finance
- Identifier Analytics
Your historical payment information may therefore be associated with WalletPay even if the original account or purchase was under a different brand name.
Is Stripe taking money from my account?
No payment is taken simply because you received this email.
The email is a notification relating to the migration of payment information to Stripe.
If you are a current customer with an active payment arrangement, WalletPay will contact you separately about the transition of your payments.
Is this email a scam?
No. Stripe is WalletPay's new payment processing provider.
The email titled “Confirmation of Direct Debit Request with WalletPay” was generated by Stripe as part of WalletPay's migration to its payment platform.
If you are uncertain about an email you have received, you do not need to click any links contained in the email. You can contact WalletPay directly through our normal customer support channels.
Has my account been reopened?
No.
If your previous account with us has been closed, receiving the Stripe notification does not reopen it.
Similarly, receiving the email does not create a new contract, debt or payment obligation.
Will WalletPay debit me in the future because I received this email?
Not simply because you received the email.
WalletPay will only process payments where there is an applicable active account or payment obligation and an appropriate authority to process those payments.
If you are an active customer whose payments are moving to Stripe, we will communicate with you separately about the change.
